Welcome to War and Tactics!    War and Tactics Forum is currently undergoing some modifications that might disable features you are used to. This is unabvoidable as we have to update the forum engine to a new structure that is incompatible with many of the features we had used so far. The good news: WaT will be more secure and stable, and most of the features we uninstalled will be a natural part of the new structure anyway. For the rest we will be looking for solutions. Some gamers have expressed concern of the size of BF-Forgotten Ground. The scenario is at least 17,000 points worth of units. !0k Allies and 7k Axis I believe.

With the size of the scenario it has been asked if the time limit could be extended or if we could go to a 2 scenario format for at least this round.

I originally set the rounds so the tournament could be done in a year. That may still be possible even with a 2 scenario format for at least one turn.

Comments?

Okay, after some discussion we are looking at either adding more time or going to a 2 scenario format for this round. Here are the opinions so far for each. Please let me know which of these two options works best for your or if you have another recommendation we'll discuss that too.

I have to agree with those who have made that point Steve, when I signed up I didnt realise I would be playing such BIG battles !.

As well as playing CM, I also play CS, WiTP/UV & TOAW3, and I would be reluctant to sacrifice those games to concentrate on CM !.

At present I am still in, BUT I may be forced to consider my position if we still play 3 battles.

I'd have to agree Steve.  I believe it is FG that is the really big one or perhaps it is the 21Panzer.  Either way I can't commit to 3 games of that size due to my schedule.  So I will have to drop out before we start so you can find a substitute.

Extend the deadline, let slow pokes drop-out, do whatever is necessary to avoid removing ANOTHER scenario from this Tourney!

I like the size of Forgotton ground...its only 34+ turns long....and there are really not that many units...I did my setup in about an hour. Its refreshing to have a real sized battle for a change.

I would like to keep it and let the chips fall where they may.  Yes, it is big (bigger than anything I have tried before) but I am willing to go for it.

Saying that, my opponent, General Mayhem, has not seen it yet, so he may have problems with it.

I am going ahead with my setup and sending it to GM and we will see what he says.  I should get it to him today so he can look at it and give some feedback here.

DT:  One hour setup?!   Geschokt  I have been staring at it for at least 2 hours and haven't placed a single unit yet!   :'(

Let me make my position clear.

The ONLY thing I'm not willing to discuss is dropping the scenario.

AL- Throne of Glory wasn't dropped it was removed because of a bug.  If I run into another technical issue that's different. This issue is simply about size.

There is at least one more scenario in the group that will be large. Mine is a combined 14,500 to 15,000 points but it is a phased reinforcement battle not all of that will be on map at the same time.

Good Hunting.

There aren't 3 games of that size. Only one.

That's why we are here discussing the options. We don't want gamers dropping out of the tournament. If that's unavoidable then okay.

If we can make a few changes that keep most everybody happy then we'll try that.

I won't drop the scenario though.

The rest is open for discussion.

What would be best in your case? Going to a 2 scenario round or more time for the round?

Good Hunting.

If time is not a big issue, then let's play it later with a small battle or by itself.  I don't play too many games but find myself at an all time high right now.  If we play all three of these MT games now I can't guarantee a minimum of one file each day for all 3 games.  Maybe 2-1-2-1-2- if you get my meaning. Rollende ogen

Bottom line, let's play a 2 game round now, we'll get FG later.

Lets play it. It looks like an interesting challenge. Also I think it offers a good tournament outcome, it test the players ability to command a larger force.

There are only a couple that are BIG BATTLES.....lol...but we have a couple. Now what to do about playing them out......

The two basic premises for my tournaments are to have fun and test the gamers limits with something they may not have seen before. So far MT has done both. No reason to stop that now.

Good Hunting.

Steve, I have to drop from the tournament.  I had a hard time finishing up the last 2 in the allotted time.  It's best to put in a substitute now at the beginning of the round.

My primary focus and reason for joining this tourney (my first), is to meet other gamers. That being the case, I have no preference to how this is resolved and will happily tag along with the consensus.

I, as well, have yet to receive the file from my opponent, fluidwill.  I've done my other two setups and have already sent them to fluidwill.  If it's large, simply extend the length of time to finish it.

So that's my vote:

Extend the deadline (Hopefully I see it soon).   Huh?

Cheers,
Bob

My wife thinks it's too big too! (rimshot)  Brede lach

Ok seriously, do not change to a 2 scenario format for this round. If anything, just extend the round a month. That's my vote anyway.

I admit I was a bit surprised of the size at first. But it's not that bad. As we all know the beginning of rounds are pretty time consuming with 3 setups at once. But once we get going it's not that bad. Besides the other two aren't big at all, it kinda balances out that way.

Ah, Gotcha... Sorry, I misunderstood... I thought that removing Forgotten Ground WAS an option on the table...

*Phew...

My devious, crafty and cunning setup had already been completed...

All 3 games underway with XCite. Really looking forward to playing these 3 scenarios out, they all look like great tactical challenges.

One thing I would really like to emphasize here is that the Masters Tournament doesn't take place on Appui- feu, Battlefront, Blitz, Blowtorch, Campagnes Combat Mission, CMHQ, FGM, Gamescape North, GameSquad, KG, TPG/TSDII, We Band of Brothers, World at War or WPC.

Not a single one of these 14 clubs is hosting this tournament.

War and Tactics is.

So, while discussing the tournament on  your respective sites is to be expected, resolving issues for the method the tournament is run is not expected.

When you have issues, you bring them here for resolution. Don't go into a huddle on your sites and determine how things should go. We all need to do that HERE.

There is a tremendous amount of energy that goes into running a tournament. Multiply that times a hundred for this one with all the different clubs and players involved.

To make it easier on me and the way the tournament is conducted and how it evolves we need the resolution of issues to take place here instead of on your home sites.

Again, this tournament is very different in what we are trying. I'm willing to listen to or discuss anything you want, other than throwing out scenarios that the designers worked long and hard to bring to you.

Those that said this couldn't be done were wrong. BUT nobody ever said it would be easy or that we would be without our challenges to make it successful.

We have had challenges and I think we'll have more. But the goal of having fun being the benchmark is still very attainable. And when we can get to the PLAYING of the games we are going just fine. Seems like we get one new challenge per round.

No big deal. Wargamers are the most intelligent people in the world. We can figure them out collectively.

Bottom line....if you have an issue about ANYTHING to do with the Masters Tournament...bring it here and let's talk about it!

Good Hunting.
