Title: The Home Front: USA Ration Books Post by: Alan65 on 9 July 2009, 23:08:18 (http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x241/Alanp_photo/WWII/Rationbookcover.jpg)
Here is the front cover of a US Ration coupon booklet, c1943. (http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x241/Alanp_photo/WWII/Rationbookcouponsgrainsproduceetc.jpg) (http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x241/Alanp_photo/WWII/Rationbookcouponssparepage.jpg) 4 types of the coupons found inside the book; some good for meats/fat some for canned goods, others for car products still others for sugar. (http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x241/Alanp_photo/WWII/Rationbookback.jpg) The back of the booklet with instructions and tips, including advice not to "pay more than the legal price" for anything. Here is one site which explains a bit more: http://www.ameshistoricalsociety.org/exhibits/events/rationing2.htm (http://www.ameshistoricalsociety.org/exhibits/events/rationing2.htm) Some of the stamps appear different on this site from the ones in my book shown here even though both are supposedly the same 'War Ration book Four'. |
