Title: Red or Black lines?
Post by: Koen on 2 January 2009, 16:56:24
Always wondered how the AI decided when to give you a red or black command line.

What I seem to notice is:

the distance
the command points of the platoon leader
the terrain they're in

do the experience level of platoon leader and squad have influence?

The command range of a HQ unit depends on its experience, its COMMAND leadership ability, and whether there is a line of sight between the HQ unit and its subordinate unit.

CMBO Manual, Command & Control, page 90.

Also, in the case of vehicles, whether or not a radio is installed.  If so, then obviously, LOS is immaterial.
