Title: Landmines in CM
Post by: ssn651 on 16 December 2008, 21:04:07
I have played a few scenarios where during the briefing I was warned about hastily laid mines possible in my path.
When playing I can never locate any minefield prior to entering it. Hastily laid or not. Even if I slowly advance, my troops always are caught in the middle of the field. I have even advanced with squads of engineers leading and I never know there are mines until someone screams.  :'(
Is there not a way to detect minefields? Especially tank mines. My engineers will walk over a spot and a tank following them blows up.  >:(
Is this the way CM is designed or can I learn something different to better protect my troops?
Thanks in Advance,

I always send in the Halftrack mine detecter. ;D

Wow!  Big spender... I always have a nice spare kubelwagon or jeep around for that... for the daisy chain AT mines, infantry can spot these, so if they are 'hastily laid', then often an infantry advance ahead of the tanks is a good idea.  Otherwise, never lead with your top tanks... that is what scout cars are for... they blow up good... they blow up reeel good.

: )

Cheers!

A very fun tip would be to smoke your minefields before the enemy drive into them ;)

I have done this a few times now, your opponent might think the smoke can cover his armor advancing....
Just think of how they react when they hit a minefield, also works for daisychains :)
