Israeli Order of Battle October 1973The Israeli forces were very flexible and as such the following Oreder of Battle must be used with caution. Brigades and battalions were added and released from the divisions on a regular basis. Additionally adhoc battalions and task groups were formed and disbanded as forces allowed and circumstances required. Battalions were often considerably under strength for long periods of time, often having as few as 10-20 tanks.
Vehicle types identified here are based on written descriptions or limited photo evidence.
It is a commonly held view that the Centurions only fought in the Golan Heights. However this is not the case and the Centurion served with on both fronts throughout the war.
Likewise the Isherman or Super Sherman was to be found on both front's and gave a good account of itself even against modern Arab vehicles such as the Syrian T-62 and Jordanian Centurions. Additional tank types included the TI-67 and the American built M48 and M60s.
