Title: OOB Egypt Six Day War 1967 Post by: stoffel on 17 January 2009, 21:26:18 Airforce:
Egypt had 550 aircraft, 430 were concentrated at the Israeli border but only 222 of them were combatready on the first day of the war. There also was a reserve with a small number of aircraft. The airforce fielded 18 squadrons with good combataircraft. The lack of good technical personell and many accidents had a dramatic effect on the operational readiness. This was due to the fact that the Egypt airforce had a lot of low educated conscripts. One of the biggest problem they faced was the lack of good/trained pilots there were about 700 qualified pilots. But only 220 of them were able to fly and most of them could barely survive a dogfight.
