Hugo Chavez did it again.
A new effort to setup the world as the great agressor against his tiny country.
This time not the US as the great agressor but my country.
When asked  about it in Kopenhagen mister Chaves accused NL of fortifying and rearmng the Islands( Dutch Antillen)
Those islands are property of Venzuela according to Chavez.
The US navy has also ships and troops stationed there, which are training for a war against Venezuela, the man sees ghosts on a large scale and is becoming paranoia if you ask me.

So, whats really happening on the islands?

A company of soldiers from the Dutch army(ground forces) took over tasks from the marines( normally stationed on the islands).
This because the marines had to send a unit to the new battlegroup for Afghanistan.
And to make it all even more dangerous a platoon of soldiers has diving lessons.
1 company replacing another and a newly send platoon on manouvres are a danger to Venezeula........
I know we have a good army but to be afraid of only 1 company?
Or would it be that Chavez tries to show his people that he isnt afraid of the world?

The way I see it, as with many dictators/Leaders with active opposition in their countries (see also US during Bush & Johnson reign) they must fudge the facts to make their people fear and see threats that don't exist (see Irak and Vietnam in US) in order to continue on the political paths they choose, or lose their tenuous grasp on power.

make your people frightened and then you can become their defender and hero (and in the meanwhole get some laws approved to reinforce your army)

He will face one of the worlds  best trained armed forces!

Yes, the Falklands in a better climate. Should he try to do so during the European winter, the Dutchies will be falling all over themselves to get deployed to the Carib.
