Title: What do men look for in a woman?
Post by: Jilly on 29 September 2009, 22:20:39
I think many women are confused as to what it is that men  want.  Do they like the 'bad girls'?  or do the want the 'good girls'?   Do they go for looks above intelligence every time or does it depend?    If a woman is unattractive, but very intelligent would that seal the deal?  Do men like women who are independent or who like to depend on them?  Would it matter to you if a woman was rich or poor, would that make a difference?  Does she need to have a good sense of humor?  What is it that men look for in a woman?  Maybe something that is not listed here?  I'm curious.  Honest answers only please.  Thanks.   :congrats:

Well, that's honest.  :)

What does it mean though?   ???

Wow, we are coming to one of the mysteries of life in general here...!?

I have a first take, and I will do it in "automatic writing" without censoring or ordering my thoughts, that will then be done in your replies (and I won´t always add "From my personal POV" but that is what I am going to post, and I am also not responding to the inherent "What might women look for in men"):

- Men are first (meaning the first time ever they spot a female) attracted by looks, that´s how our genes have made us, and it happens at the first glance (wihtin the first second):

Abstract  Studies of human physical traits and mate preferences often use questionnaires asking participants to rate the attractiveness of images. Female waist-to-hip ratio (WHR), breast size, and facial appearance have all been implicated in assessments by men of female attractiveness. However, very little is known about how men make fine-grained visual assessments of such images. We used eye-tracking techniques to measure the numbers of visual fixations, dwell times, and initial fixations made by men who viewed front-posed photographs of the same woman, computer-morphed so as to differ in her WHR (0.7 or 0.9) and breast size (small, medium, or large). Men also rated these images for attractiveness. Results showed that the initial visual fixation (occurring within 200 ms from the start of each 5 s test) involved either the breasts or the waist.

Both these body areas received more first fixations than the face or the lower body (pubic area and legs). Men looked more often and for longer at the breasts, irrespective of the WHR of the images. However, men rated images with an hourglass shape and a slim waist (0.7 WHR) as most attractive, irrespective of breast size. These results provide quantitative data on eye movements that occur during male judgments of the attractiveness of female images, and indicate that assessments of the female hourglass figure probably occur very rapidly.

- Every man has his personal "prey scheme", mine e.g. describes (in order of how our brain makes us males look at stuff) small tits, long legs under a slender body, heavy eyebrows, looooong eyelids, and (!) a hawkish nose - better still with a little hook! - (I will inevitably fall for the classic greek profile if the nose does is not totally straight), and where you can look inside the nostrils from the side (don´t ask me *why* this is so, I am just reporting data here  ???).

Some examples of my personal prey scheme (with one of the ladies I actually shared a few years, and: No, it was not the first in the row :) ANd, <es, the last three are the same lady):

(http://www.warandtactics.com/Images/matts_prefs1.jpg)(http://www.warandtactics.com/Images/matts_prefs2.jpg)(http://www.warandtactics.com/Images/matts_prefs3.jpg)(http://www.warandtactics.com/Images/matts_prefs4.jpg)
(http://www.warandtactics.com/Images/matts_prefs5.jpg)(http://www.warandtactics.com/Images/matts_prefs6.jpg)(http://www.warandtactics.com/Images/matts_prefs7.jpg)(http://www.warandtactics.com/Images/matts_prefs8.jpg)

- On 2nd glance, it´s how the lady moves (body language, I am assuming here that you spotted the potential mating target from farther away)

- When getting to close combat, it´s (unconsciously, but you can revive it to your conscience later) all about smell...!

- Once these parameters are "in the green", it gets more diverse: The lady opens her mouth and says something, and you might just be thrown back of your bar stool... or the opposite

Once having mated things get weighed differently again:

- Whining drives me away, nagging also, and women that are jealous just make me actually go looking for the fun I am getting punished for when I did not even think about it.

- Materialism drives me away (probably because I alwys have some but never much money)

- Multi-Facetted is a must: A lady who can lift a lost anker, sleep under pine branches in the mud, does not mind getting dirty/cold/hungry/ugly, can punch a guy when neccessary where it hurts, knows to paint the house, etc... is high on my list, but also: The lady who can dress up like the latest model for disco and can survive a Gala being the center of attention and do so easy handedly gets higher on the ranking list. If then she is additionally the erfect cook and in general states "I like everything", can show affection and - most important of all - can follow me intellectually and challenge me phislosphically, then I am game.

- All is perfect if more than 80% of the following sounds true to my woman (as you can see I deleted a few I don´t value as important, and I added a few that were missing):

Quote
000. The most important thingy, and where most things go wrong as ladies often if not always tend to do it at reverse (this one is serious, take the rest with a grain of salt): If something we said can be interpreted two ways AND one of the ways makes you sad or angry,  we meant the other one.we meant the *other* one.

000b: (Almost as important): If we ask what is wrong and you say "Nothing", we will assume nothing’s wrong (!) and act upon this assumption

1. Men are NOT mind readers.

1b. Learn to work the toilet seat. You’re a big girl. If it’s up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don’t hear us complaining about you leaving it down.

2. If you are cooking a special dinner for a man, be sure to include something from each of the four major male food groups: Meat, Fried, Beer, and Red.

3. Don't make him hold your purse in the mall.

4. Shopping is not fascinating.

5. When he asks for a threesome with you and your best friend, he is only joking.

6. Unless the answer is yes.

7. In which case, can he videotape it?

8. If you REALLY want a nice guy, stop dating good-looking assholes.

9. The man is ALWAYS in charge of poking the campfire with a stick and/or tending the grill.

11. Money does not equate love.

13. Those male models with perfect bodies are all gay.

14. He heard you the first time.

14b. Ask for what you want. Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work! Just say it!

16. If you truly want honesty, don't ask questions you don't really want the answer to.

16a) Tell him about your problems only if you want him to solve them.

17. Of course he wants another beer.

21. If he has to sit through "Legends of the Fall", you have to sit through "Matrix".

22. "Fine!" is not an acceptable way to end an argument.

23. Do not question a man's innate navigational abilities by suggesting he stop for directions.

24. He was not looking at that other girl.

25. Well, okay... maybe a little.

26. Okay, so what! He was looking at her. Big deal. Like you never looked at another guy...

31. Your (select appropriate item butt/boobs/hair/makeup/legs look fine. As a matter of fact, it/they look damn good. Stop asking.

32. If you want a satisfying sex life, you will NEVER fake an orgasm.

33. It is not necessary to discuss the heaviness of your menstrual flow with him.

34. Remember: that Nair bottle looks an awful lot like shampoo if left in the shower.

36. Dirty laundry comes in several categories: Looks fine/smells fine, Looks fine/smells bad, Looks dirty/smells fine. Unless you intend to wash it, do not try to disrupt piles organized in this manner.

37. Yes, Sharon Stone/Pamela Anderson/Cindy Crawford is prettier than you. Just like Brad Pitt / Antonio Banderas / Keanu Reeves is better looking than him. But since neither one of you is going to be dating any of these people, love the one you're with.

41. Watching soccer is a major turn-on for you. But please wait until the half-time show to act upon that...

And now I have to turn in... More wisdom-sharing tomorrow...

I think that requirements change with time, in the short term people are drawn toward attractiveness but in the long term independence, intelligence, trust and personality become the dominant traits.

Not sure this is going to help, but it's true that we judge you at first glance (and from a distance.)  I'm not able to define the exact combination of posture, attitude, shapes and sizes but--like art--I know it when I see it.
I also am attracted to a certain laugh; joie de vivre is essential.

What do men look for in a woman? is not the correct question...we can only answer to the question 'what do YOU look for in a woman'?

there's the general way the hunter acts/reacts
& the personal view on the matter

ofcourse the general briefing is the same as Rattler has given you...lenght and dimensions...presentation (the way she moves, how she turns her head, how she talks)...the look in her eyes (the eyes always tell a lot! not only for women but for every human being)...when you get closer the smell is added (the right amount of perfume, too much is too much, you need some balance between and perfume and bodysmell) and then finally you talk to eachother. These first sentences are very important!!!

only for the looks

When I fall for a woman I could start telling very stupid things..., a respectful woman maybe giggles abit but will respect you and take your babbling as a way to say 'damn girlie, you make me feel very weird....I definitely feel attracted to you'

When I get into a conversation with people about women, attraction etc I always say that you have 2 kind of women: the ones you wanna take home for 1 night and the ones you'll give a chance to stay longer.
Those for 1 night are the ones you see on numerous erotic websites etc.
Those that you'll give a chance are seen in model photoshoots.

1-nighters, just for the looks:

those who have a chance to stay, only talking about the looks:
(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/VirtualReality/Monica%20Bellucci/th_73.jpg) (http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/VirtualReality/Monica%20Bellucci/?action=view&current=73.jpg)(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/VirtualReality/Valerie%20de%20Booser/th_Cover0602-1.jpg) (http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/VirtualReality/Valerie%20de%20Booser/?action=view&current=Cover0602-1.jpg)(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/VirtualReality/Angelina%20Jolie/th_89.jpg) (http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/VirtualReality/Angelina%20Jolie/?action=view&current=89.jpg)(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/VirtualReality/katja%20schuurman/th_21.jpg) (http://s9.photobucket.com/albums/a65/VirtualReality/katja%20schuurman/?action=view&current=21.jpg)
as you can see, looks, I have a strong attraction to dark (long) haired, not skinny, brown eyed women... :congrats:

the looks and the woman herself
What do I find most important? The Looks or the Brains? Well, a nice mixture of both is welcome. Finding both at 100% is almost impossible...
But...when you find a woman who gives you what you need she'll become better looking in your eyes as a reaction to your mental state, read 'happiness'.

I dunno if you know the sentence: a woman should be chef-cook in the kitchen, a prostitute in bed and a psychiatrist when you are stressed!

I had lots of short and longterm relationships, always felt very attracted to the girlies and still I'm married to Karine who is 11 years older, already had 2 grown-up daughters, who had no money etc
We are now almost 9 years more than happy, we fit together and I asked her to marry me in 2008. And yes, some basic thoughts should be the same: the importantance of money, luxury, friends. What do you want to achieve in the future? Those thoughts shouldn't be 100% the same but mixable to a good result that satisfies both parties.
A good woman is the woman that when she's not around you, you feel incomplete. We always do everything together...not because we should or must but because we feel better when we do...a feeling but hell, it's always about feelings...

So what do we look for?
We don't look for anything, it's something that happens...sometimes it's in a split second...sometimes it happens only when you know someone for weeks or months...
It's a feeling...how does she make you feel?

ok,enough for this time of the day...05.30AM  hatsoff

This is all such interesting stuff,  I'm really learning something here.

I guess it all boils down to the fact that we are all different, with different likes and dislikes.  perhaps some of the things that men look for in a woman have similarities to what women are looking or in a man? For instance,  I really like men who are intelligent, maybe that comes even before looks.  But a sense of humor is a must have.  A good looking hunk with no brains can get boring real quick.

Rattler,  I'm a little surprised at your choice.  I always thought that men went for women with cute little noses, no?  I'm guessing that the woman that was your girlfriend the forth one on the top row?

I agree, that the 'first' thing that attracts us (whether male or female), are the looks.  Then it's a combination of things:  the smile, eyes, their demeanor (how they move), color, as in hair, eyes and perhaps skin tone?.  For instance,  I'm not attracted to Indian men at all.  I have no idea why,  not even the really good looking ones, kind of strange I know.  I'm also surprised that so many white men go for me.  I thought they would go for the white ladies more, but not always so...

Got it spot on, respect! (usually gals chose the 2nd as my ex gf).

Her name is Christine Reinckens, a (then) great and now famous painter, photo realist and doing great when it comes to big sizes - from Kassel, Germany:

Now, for example, apart from the looks, she had all I described above: She could (and can still I imagine, we are talking ´83 here) take all kind of blows and smile, and work...

In my time I have seen a lot of self portraits from here (though the one you mention is not), at that time she painted often people wrapped in all kind of cloth (I still have a catalogue here). She has some more interesting stuff (http://www.reinckens.de/cont_new/p2_5.html) on her homepage, including some self portraits (top  middle) (http://www.reinckens.de/cont_new/p2_3.html), also she does stillife, mostly large triptychons (http://www.reinckens.de/cont_new/p4_2.html), where her capacity for photo realistic painting finds a great field.

She earned her money in that time as a court artist (http://www.reinckens.de/cont_new/p5_2.html) (in Germany taking pictures in court is forbidden).

A strong woman in more than one respect.

Back to thread:

One thing I found to be true (and which for me explains how some couples can be together several decades) is that a man always keeps the first impression he had of his wife/companion/lover: Even if many years have gone by and the body long has succumbed to it´s influence and gravity, he will see this first impression in front of his mental eye whenever looking at her.

I met my ex about 20 yrs ago sitting on a rock in the sea and she reminded me of the Copenhaguen "Mermaid", this picture is still what I see today when looking at her or thinking of her:

I think this effect is also the base for some of the standard problems men have with women and vice versa:

While women constantly want us to change (or even want to change us, which won´t work), men want their women never to change and to remain the way they got to know them (which of cause also doesn´t work).

FWIW,

Rattler

I dont think naked or bikini would make any difference really with regard to the impression, would it?

i hope that one day i will find a nice girl, a girl that i'm attracted to and she to me. That respects me, loves me, and wants to spend the rest of her life with me. And maybe start a family (dont know if i want kids) But as i grow older i get the feeling that this never will happen for some reason.

don't look to hard, don't want anything to hard...it will all come to you...

I was 32 and Karine 41 before I found my haven...I had numerous girls and women...one day it's bingo....

better to wait than to force something and marry the wrong woman or have kids with the wrong partner...

And maybe start a family (dont know if i want kids) But as i grow older i get the feeling that this never will happen for some reason.

NOTE that the "rest of your life" gene wise is 7 years, more or less. This not only statistically from the POV when all the scriptures we believe in today where hashed out (average life expectancy 28 when the bible was published: People tend to forget that the "old ones" or "wise ones" were about 40-45 in the context), but also from a "breed-raising" genetic angle, this is usually when you lose interest (as a woman, looking for the next breeder).

So, as Koen already said, take it as it comes, be true to your feelings, beliefs and - most of all - to your kids, don´t hope for more than 7 years and you are fine, and after separation, do not go into crazy attrition wars (and talk to your prospective wife about what I just wrote before the marriage).

Dont know whether that helps, but from what my father told me and my own experience, another few gems (that might be completely wrong but served me well), NOTE, going into uncensored automatic writing mode again, forget PC:

- Stay away (or at least have your ALERT sensors turned to finest) from women with large handbags (and I mean large!). This was an advice of my father to me, and I can just relay it as I had the same experiences (all the loves I got along with for long term had *NO* handbag but knew to organize their stuff as we guys: Why do they need one where we don´t?). My guess that it is a form of body language saying "I want all!", meaning they will press you out like a lemon and throw you away once youre spent. NOTE also that it gets worse, when talking designer handbags... Dont ask me why, just my experience accumulated, and inevitable goes along with those women needing one and a half hour in the bathroom every morning...

- Stay away (or at least have your ALERT sensors turned to finest) from women with LARGE earings and much glitter. From my POV they are extremely possesive (which is another angle of being super materialistic, basically they are telling you by body language/expression). "Harpies" is my word for them, you will live jealousy nightmares...

- Stay away (or at least have your ALERT sensors turned to finest) from gals with short, stubby fingers (forgot to mention it before: Hands/fingers are a great indicator about how you will get along):

- Stay away (or at least have your ALERT sensors turned to finest) from gals that walk with their feet parrallel or even turned inwards: Body language for reserving everything to yourself, bein uncommunicative and unsensual, you will get into probs over the long run:

Just to make it clear, women walking with their feet turned outwards will present you with problems as well, but they will be on another level.

From my experience, look for: Women with long fingers (better even if calloused a bit), short fingernails, turned outward feet, small earrings, no handbag, and quicker with her moring toilet than you... :). Have fun in finding that farm girl that can also compete and perform naturally in any gala!  hihi

Yes,  that certainly is some advice there,  Rattler.  What if a man falls in love with a woman and doesn't see her in toeing until after?  And what if,  she has many bags and you only happen to bump into her when she has her big one?  And what if her earings are just fake jewels, does that count?  Or does that mean she's okay and not a gold digger?  And what if she bought herself the diamond earrings, and infact has more money then the man?  What then? No chubby hands  either?        I wonder how many men think of those things when falling in love?

I agree with the 7 year max thing though. And in most cases not even that.

So what about us women?  what should we look out for when looking of the right guy?

Rattler quote:  - Stay away (or at least have your ALERT sensors turned to finest) from gals that walk with their feet parrallel or even turned inwards: Body language for reserving everything to yourself, bein uncommunicative and unsensual, you will get into probs over the long run:

And then:

Just to make it clear, women walking with their feet turned outwards will present you with problems as well, but they will be on another level.

I bet that level must be exhausting ;)

And the big question is,  do I qualify,  Rattler?     xangel

Jilly, this is hilarious, but I guess most is fairly true also...  hihi

I probably do not qualify for women of any age according to that list :)

Post by: Rattler on 19 October 2009, 23:14:10
Coming back to my first post, I found a "live" image of what I look for in a woman:

-snip- Every man has his personal "prey scheme", mine e.g. describes (in order of how our brain makes us males look at stuff) small tits, long legs under a slender body, heavy eyebrows, looooong eyelids, and (!) a hawkish nose - better still with a little hook! - (I will inevitably fall for the classic greek profile if the nose line is not totally straight), and where you can look inside the nostrils from the side (don´t ask me *why* this is so, I am just reporting data here  ??).-snip-

- On 2nd glance, it´s how the lady moves (body language, I am assuming here that you spotted the potential mating target from farther away) -snip-

And, yes, I remeber having said "Beware of women with big earrings!", but inevitably they are part of the (for me attractive) crowd.

Bebé has always hit me in my soft spot, one of the most beautiful and intriguing women I know (just look how she sits there in an interview on TV!? What she says, and how she does it!?), here two vids that show my "prey scheme" quite maxed out (lyrics translation attempt by me, sorry, of the first vid the sound is slightly out of sync and the quality not the best):

Quote
Quién se va... quién se queda...
Quién le duele más la soledad,
Quién le duele más la soledad
si todos los rincones de mi vida...
tiene algo tuyo

Cúal es tu camino,
cúal es el mío
dónde se encontraron...
dónde se han ido

"Anda, deja que te acompañe
que no es momento de andar sola"

Con lo pequeño que es el tiempo
quién recogerá el perdido
si tu me cuidas yo me curo

Who is leaving... who will stay...
Who is hurt more by loneliness,
Who is hurt more by loneliness,
when all the corners of my life ...
have something of you?

What's your way,
what's mine
where did they meet...
what have they come to?

"Come on, let me accompany you,
it is not the time to walk alone! "

With what how small time is,
Who will collect what is lost?
If you take care of me I am cured
My cure... is your company!
Let me take care of curing the wings ... your wings...

"Come on, let me accompany you,
it is not the time to walk alone! "

My five senses are there for you
my time is there for you
my hand is there to hold you
and my joy is there for that you can live it all...

"Come on, let me accompany you,
it is not the time to walk alone! "

"Come on, let me accompany you,
it is not the time to walk alone! "

Let me accompany you ...

And here, for all the girls out there trying to find out what guys look for in a gal (and for this special one who posts in this forum), Bebé, "Ella" (She), I just love that video!:

Hoy vas a comprender
que el miedo se puede romper con un solo portazo.
Hoy vas a hacer reir
porque tus ojos se han cansado de ser llanto, de ser llanto…
Hoy vas a conseguir
reirte hasta de ti y ver que lo has logrado que…

Hoy vas a ser la mujé
que te dé la gana de ser
Hoy te vas a querer

Hoy vas a conseguir
reir tanto de ti y ver que lo has logrado…

Hoy vas a descubrir que el mundo es solo para ti
que nadie puede hacerte daño, nadie puede hacerte daño
Hoy vas a comprender
que el miedo se puede romper con un solo portazo.
Hoy vas a hacer reir
porque tus ojos se han cansado de ser llanto, de ser llanto…
Hoy vas a conseguir
reirte hasta de ti y ver que lo has logrado ohhhh…
she has become tired, to throw in the towel.
bit by bit she throws off the cobwebs....
she hasn´t slept last night but she is not tired.
she does not look in any mirror but she feels totally beautiful!

Today she colored her eye lashes,
today she likes her smile and she doesn´t feel strange,
today she dreams of what he wants without worrying about anything
today she is a woman that has found her soul!

Today you will discover that the world is just for you,
that nobody can hurt you, nobody can hurt you!
Today you will understand
that fear can be ended with a simple slam of the door.
Today you will laugh,
because your eyes have become tired of crying, of being crying...
Today you will manage to
laugh (even about your self) and see what you've accomplished...

Today you are going to be the woman
that you want to be!
Today you'll love yourself
like nobody ever knew to love you!
Today you're going to look forward
(because looking back has been sufficiently hurting),
one brave women, one smiling woman,
see how it happens!?

Today was born the perfect women who everybody expected,
who shamelessly broke the marked out rules,
Today you put on your high heels so that your footseps be heard,
Today you know that your life will never be a failure again!

Today you will discover that the world is just for you,
that nobody can hurt you, nobody can hurt you!
Today will win heaven,
without looking at how high you are above the floor...
Today you will be happy,
even if the winter should be cold and long, and if he should be long!
Today you will manage to
be laughing (even about your self) and see what you've accomplished...

Today you will discover that the world is just for you,
that nobody can hurt you, nobody can hurt you!
Today you will understand
that fear can be ended with a simple slam of the door.
Today you do laugh,
because your eyes have become tired of crying, of being crying...
Today you will manage to
be laughing (even about your self) and you see what you've accomplished...

Was she naked when you first saw her though?  I think she is still a very beautiful woman.

I met my ex about 20 yrs ago sitting on a rock in the sea and she reminded me of the Copenhaguen "Mermaid", this picture is still what I see today when looking at her or thinking of her -snip-

FWIW, Rattler

I know I answered this one with a question, and that I am still owing the actual answer, has been troubling me for month now:

As I am slow, you sometimes have to give me time to reply (I can *always* hash out something off reflex - as I did - but it is not really my character, nor a true answer, just trained response strategy), now, having had time enough to mull it over sufficiently (re: whether anylady should be allowed to be ask me such stuff or whether I should feel obliged to answer such questions) I feel almost ready to answer:

Straightaway, no, she was not naked... :)

Does that answer sufficiently satisfy your curiosity? Now, though, it is your turn to answer *my* question, if you please? (Oh god, I am such an elephant!  And I love it  ;D smallclap)

Dominant Women (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGH7ILrC8kw#normal)

JFTR, I think the guy in the vid is the absolute clown, so many words, to in the end not say *anything* really except relating his personal history of failure (and forgetting to give the ladies the leeway if he didnt like them, why would he be with them so long?), *CLOWN* from my POV (though I think he is stating all this trying to be serious).

Evolutionary reasons he cannot see? There are, if you look a bit beyond the bible/coran text, and seriously! Personally those guys give me the creeps, I feel I do not like women that are not up to me: I judge myself to be pretty dominant, so I want an equal counterpart, ain´t that the salt of the earth?

He is right in only one point, I also won´t discuss (but I *won´t* discuss  - as he obvioulsy did despite what he says - how I order my food :) )

Ay. life as a man is difficult, cannot live with them, cannot without....

Selected this vid for a joke, just check the comments (gotta read at reverse, bottom is first, no time to re-organize), Now tell me, where is the problem?! With the gals or with those guys?:

the truth is that all women are? programed to piss us off. they are ALL whores and thats the truth. they dont get our large-print minds because they are looking for some really complex chick-flickish feelings and they fail so they try to dominate us so they can breed. we can end this if we use women like objects more often

It is not the case that 'someone must be dominant'. Control yourself. Do? not control other people.

No, someone has to be dominant. It's how things work and have always work. Dominant doesn't mean control either, but there must be dominance or the relationship will fail 99% of the time? and the that 1% means both people are in a coma.

My first impression is that the guy in the video  comes across as very unlikable.  His whole attitude suggests that he doesn't really like or trust women that much,  perhaps he has some bad experiences in the past, who knows?  He seems somewhat bitter towards women he conceives as being 'dominant'.  I honestly don't know what more to make of him.  Not someone I would want to date, no way.

The fact is there are quite a few men out there like that.  What makes them so suspicious and negative towards women? I have no idea,  but they are off-putting, no doubt it.

Personally,I don't think there should be any need for either the man or woman to act 'dominant', that to me sounds like a form of insecurity.  (Unless it's just game playing that is ;)  )

btw,  Rattler.  Could you further explain what this 'mama' complex you always mention is all about?   :-\

I have done before, great search engine we have (just had to enter "mama", there it was) http://www.warandtactics.com/smf/wats-21st-century-zoo/wat-zoo-exhibit-6-lubna-ahmed-hussein-the-trouser-lady/ (http://www.warandtactics.com/smf/wats-21st-century-zoo/wat-zoo-exhibit-6-lubna-ahmed-hussein-the-trouser-lady!) (adaped by adding some words for this thread):

Quote from: Rattler
For many men women are - by definition - indecent if they ever manage to get her horizontal, that is why so many guys need to talk of "sluts", "bitches" or else, when refering to the girls they managed to get laid.

It is the "Mama" complex (my personal theory):

Big Tits (like Mama when I was a baby! Want them back again!), and they are of cause saints and as such stand on a pedestal and cannot be bothered with "dirty" things like sex (and so we men can understand they will only by obligation fall for our sexual assaults, to do us a favor, as "Mama"), and so every lady who does not fall into that scheme (like the whores the married guys frequent to once fuck someone not a "saint" and do dirty stuff), are by definition: Indecent...

I can detail more, if that should not be sufficient.

What do women want?

I agree with what this woman says:

Relationship & Dating Advice : What Women Want in Men ([url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tU_sJwGQ1hQ&feature=fvw#normal[/url])

For starters, I guess you named the thread at reverse (What do Men look for in Women?), but as you started it, why not let you take the lead and direct it somewhere else... :) ?

2nd , I also was appalled to post this vid a day or so ago (it appeared first in "related videos" on one that was posted here, do not ask me which one was the original - and I guess you just looked at it an said: "Hey! That fits!"). Well, I remember the series (it is a company promo series, 1 min each of which 15 secs are repeating the company name, and I would not believe the lady one word though even she said sensible stuff or got it all right as like in this one you posted) BECAUSE I saw the other ones (and even posted one before, for laughs), check some samples and tell me we men have to take *that* in serious (as I do not want to clog the thread with vids, I will use the quote format to just transmit the urls without transforming them):

Quote
[url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=us-x-BgHs0w[/url]

Look, the man she is talking about, he won´t need the advice... What about the guy who (like the majority) has just this exact problem: He does *not feel confident* when falling in love, his knees shake and his mouth goes dry, and he does not know what to utter..., and the lady does not solve a little bit of his predicament...

Or take this one:
Quote
If a friend turns into a lover, it's wise to avoid talking to them about past relationships. Avoid getting too clingy when intimacy is added to a friendship.

(again, all the rest is just mentioning the company, this is her message, and, with all due respect, it is pure rubbish: If you have had a friend for some time that suddenly turns into a lovers relationship, you will *already know everything about his past*, or what does she want to insinuate? That we as friends have not shared our sorrows, anxieties or hopes? Rubbish!

Quote
[url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnkGyD-ter0[/url]

I recall there is one about kissing (the one I posted for laughs before), standby and let me search...

Ok, found it, actually two. both are ROFL (and, sorry, rubbish again):

#1:
Quote
... in order to get a first kiss, look at body language, make eye contact and be aware of receptive energy. Look for messages before leaning in for a first kiss

ROFL, LMAO, when you are in love and have the time to look (consciently!) for "receptive energy" (whatever that means), for messages and for body language, you are simply at the wrong time at the wrong place with the wrong woman...  ;D

Quote
[url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4BHLsKTXVUo[/url]

The other one is not much better :) :

Quote
When kissing someone, it's important to have fresh breath, to be comfortable and to be soft and gentle. Make a kiss sensual and romantic with help from a relationship coach... don´t be in an arkward position...

ROFL again, RTFM? or What? This is no help whatsoever to people who do not know how to kiss, they will not be able to take anything from here as they cannot at the same time kiss and read the manual... (talking from  - many decades ago - experience here):

Quote
[url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lLPZAnVPh0E[/url]

3rd: My take: Forget all those dating coaches and what they say (ok, read and/and/or listen to them, keep it in the back of your mind, one moment of your life - when you are *already experienced* (!) you might find one or the other snippet helpful):

- Men present themselves, women chose: As a guy, you can do whatever you want in your presentation, if the gal does not find the "click" to what she is looking for, forget it.

- Even if you do nothing special and she "clicks" she will twll you later what of your "nothing" impressed her, and you wont believe it nor ever be able to repeat it.

It is not the men that choose, in the end it comes out this, from our man´s side:

Quote
When a man loves a woman
Can't keep his mind on nothing else.
He'll trade the world
For the good thing he's found.
If she's bad he can't see it.
She can do no wrong.
Turn his back on his best friend
If he put her down.

When a man loves a woman.
He spend his very last dime
Tryin' to hold on to what he needs
He'd give up all his comfort
Sleep out in the rain
If she said that's the way it ought to be.

Well, this man loves a woman
I give you everything I have
Tryin' to hold on to your precious love
Baby, please don't treat me bad.

When a man loves a woman
Down deep in his soul.
She can bring him such misery
If she plays him for a fool
He's the last one to know
Lovin' eyes can't never see.

When a man loves a woman
He can do no wrong
He can never want some other girl.
Yes, when a man loves a woman
I know exactly how he feels
'Cause baby, baby, baby, you're my world.

And, sometimes you are lucky, and the response is ok (but, who would have guessed? With a woman´s twist to things, check the subtley changed lyrics...  ;D):

P.S.:

According to what I see and have experienced, we men truly are vulnerable, and whatever much I applaude the harsh take on violent male gender violence, there is also some (not sanctioned that I knew of) psychological female gender violence excerted, simply making use of our open doors, as women do not feel the restraints we men do:

Quote
Como una promesa, eres tú, eres tú, /You are like a promise
Como una mañana de verano, /like morning of summer
Como una sonrisa, eres tú, eres tú, /like a smile you are, that is you
Así, así, eres tú. /that is how, that is how you are!

Toda mi esperanza, erés tú, eres tú, /you are all my hope
Como el agua fresca en mis manos, /like fresh water in ma hands
Como fuerte brisa, eres tú, eres tú, /like a strong breeze, you are
Así, así, eres tú. /like this, like this you are

Refrán:

Eres tú, como el agua de mi fuente, /you are: Like the water of my fountain
Eres tú, el fuego de mi hogar /You are: The fire in my house
Eres tú, como el fuego de mi hoguera, /You are: The fire in my fire place
Eres tú, el trigo de mi pan. /You are: The wheat of my bread
Como un poema, eres tú, eres tú /Like a poem you are, thats how you are
Como una guitarra en la noche. /Like a guitar at night
Todo mi horizonte, eres tú, eres tú /All my horizon you are
Así, así, eres tú. /That is what you are for me.

Yes, that's right, that's what happened.  I've never seen any others from her or anyone else,  I don't check out 'relationship' videos.  After all everyone has their own take on what is right and what is not.  But  that one I posted, fits in with what I believe.

I actually don't think it's a good idea to go on about our ex.s.  Sure  she might already know about your past relationships,   but if she  cares for you, then she will not appreciate you bringing up your ex.  too often.  For instance if I was seeing a guy who would talk about his ex.  then I would wonder if he doesn't still have feelings for her, and if he does, then that would be a big problem, at least for me.  When I am serious about a guy,  he had better forget all about is ex.  or it's not going to work.  I give my all to a relationship and I expect the same back in return.  And,  I admit,  I am very possessive, and am not capable of sharing or being 2nd best to anyone, at least if I really care of the man.  It's either all or nothing.  It just doesn't work any other way with me.

Well, mabe here is a big difference on how men and women think (or at least, on how you and me think):

My ex are (and will always be) part of my life, they shaped me with their love while it worked, and they hurt me with their attacks in the times it didn´t work, still, that is my history, and nobody I ever loved will be negated this part of my life´s history that she formed nor that part of forming me as person and character just because it is not love anymore what I feel for her, or because I feel neutral or even to the extreme, because I feel lack of respect.

This has never anything to do with my present feelings or relationships, only as far as it is part of my history, personally I have no problem hearing about my antecessors with any lady.

I am practical in this respect: If he was better, she would be with him, not with me, the rest is Q.E.D...

Different takes, I guess.

Rattler

EDIT P.S. (and as afterthought some hours later): I have learned over the years to check out my loves also in the respect how they went of their exes: Di they leave me for him, I knew I would be left for someone else in the future the same way; did they stick to him like glued, I knew my next rival would have the same problem when trying to wrench her from me; did they firght thier ex to death, with lawyers, jusdges, denouncing and being traitors, well: Off we walked, and quickly, always the other direction!; did they cherish their ex and treat him as friend, how comforting: I would end up along the same line and not in a deadly life/death quarrell about kids, money and accusations... Interesting, no?

Sorry, sky, but that just qualifies for a one/two/three nighter... :) (no offense meant, of cause, we men also only qualify on that level for the same  :D)

A woman  must (at least for me, to qualify for something more) have the ability to make you feel at home when you are with her (and, I agree, there might be different definitions on how this might be achieved, e.g. in Germany we say: "Love goes through the stomach", so cooking well helps from our POV, others might still have other ideas).

Also, NOTE, I edited my above post after your post.

WHAT DO A MAN LOOK FOR A WOMAN???????? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

It depends on the woman. There are women you can look for a thing or other depending the moment, the situation, the needs, and the man. So this is just like talking about gender of angels.

Perfect woman is like this http://www.filofiel.com/tienda/images/MULTIUSOS.jpg (http://www.filofiel.com/tienda/images/MULTIUSOS.jpg) exactly the same that they hope from a man.

Extreme utility for everything depending of what you need in any moment.

I have to agree with Sky in some ways.   I think men are very visual and an attractive woman will always win over an unattractive one.  Truth is, for men, looks matter as much as, (if not more than), intelligence, education, or even wealth.  If this wasn't the case why do so many influential men marry air-heads?

But I think Sky and I have an advantage over most women because we have it all  ;)    The looks, the intelligence etc.    :P

As for what I look for in a man:  a sense of humor (very important).  I can't resist an intelligent man, air-heads bore me to tears, no matter how good looking. Compassion and passion for life, kindness.  I think it's the same for most women?

And then of course, there has to be chemistry.

Now that should be easy to find.....   hdbng        waa

Hook, line and sinker! Hence my referral to asking Mary if you could tag along to Vietnam. Going on 13 years (or is it 14), we share a strength that holds us together even when apart. I daresay, I adore her. Her love for me is so strong, that the coming move by me to California, without her, though it brings pain, is supported because she understands my heart so well as to know the necessity. We both understand that sacrifice for the well being of the tribe is essential. Her loving nature is mirrored within me and I pray that I am worthy of her affections.

I agree with that,  Rattler.  People don't really change,  hardly ever in fact. If  a man or woman cheats than than they will always do it.  If he or she leaves someone for you, then they will probably do the same to you etc.   very true.

yeah, she is (for Rattler´s question)

In the line og the thread....I have decided it´s better not looking for anything in a woman, in life is better not searching but finding. When you look wishing to find anything your mind is not as clear as desirable, you disturb reality, better going on in a normal way of life and if you find...great.

true, my wife and I met by phone and we talked for about 3hours while I was driving towards Paris.

that phonecall was so 'new' for the both us that it 'clicked', we never saw eachother before but we knew that we never wanted to loose eachother again...

there were obstacles as she being 11 years older, not capable anymore in giving me children and my mental state at that time so we were friends for some months before we became a couple...

the looks were not important, I'm not saying that my wife is a donkey....well, I hope you get the point...

I was always CRAZY about women, and still am, their curves, skin, voice, hair and more and my wife certainly doesn't match my criteria but....she's the one for me  :congrats:

What do men look for in a woman?  What do you think of this link?  Any truth in it?

http://love.ivillage.com/lnsunderstandmen/whathewants/0,,q09q-2,00.html (http://love.ivillage.com/lnsunderstandmen/whathewants/0,,q09q-2,00.html)

Just to highlight the main titles:

10 Traits Men look of in a woman:

1. She has a life of her own  — and it's pretty good to boot.

2. She never makes the first move

3. She is sexy without being trampy.

4. She waits to have sex.

5. She does little things to show she cares.

6. She should be her boyfriend's best wingman — err, wing woman

7. She never turns on the pressure. This one is important.

8. She does not take any crap — from anyone.

9. A good woman always chooses a good man.

10. She knows that love is the biggest part of the mating equation.

  ???

I'll take a swing...

Quote
1. She has a life of her own  — and it's pretty good to boot.

I agree with the first part, the second part represents a shallow viewpoint since it can be interpreted so subjectively.

Quote
2. She never makes the first move

This is an archaic concept that should be thrown onto the dustbin of history.

Quote
3. She is sexy without being trampy.

One man's sexy is anothers tramp.

Quote
4. She waits to have sex.

Another archaic concept.

Quote
5. She does little things to show she cares.

Duh!

Quote
6. She should be her boyfriend's best wingman — err, wing woman

If you can't count on your mate, your fooling yourself.

Quote
7. She never turns on the pressure. This one is important.

If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen dork!

Quote
8. She does not take any crap — from anyone.

Yet she isn't supposed to stand up for herself via #7 in order to achieve this?

Quote
9. A good woman always chooses a good man.

I don't understand what this alludes to, sounds kind of self serving. No room for error in a good woman? Bah!

Quote
10. She knows that love is the biggest part of the mating equation.

ambiguous in my eyes.

All in all not a list I would use, but if it makes your world twirl, far be it from me to tell you otherwise.

Funny thread, I still go on my way "Donde menos te lo espereas, salta la liebre" (Rabbitt jumps where you never thought it was going to happen). I am not in a hurry, and when you don´t find your rabbitt there are two options:

1.- Be patient and wait
2.- Shoot anything moving or static

What option is better? No answer is good, depends of what you need. If need really a "your" rabbit better to wait and not wasting ammo. If you only go for the pleasure of pulling the trigger, second option is fine.

But as said, I go on my line, and if I shoot for a rabbitt and catch an onion, just go on walking slowly, watching at the beauty of the mountain, enjoying my life...

Good way of looking at things, Solideo.  At least you won't get screwed up that way.  (um...well you know what I mean).

I like what you say, FACman.  Are you SURE you are not available?   :P

Okay here's what I think of  this list:

1. She has a life of her own  — and it's pretty good to boot.

I agree with this one,  I wouldn't want a clingy man, with no life of his own and I'm sure it must be the same for men.   No,  doesn't have to be a grand one though.

2. She never makes the first move
This one needs to be thrown out of the window.  I DO make the first move, and I don't see anything wrong with it.

3. She is sexy without being trampy.
I agree with this one.  Trampy is a big no.

4. She waits to have sex.
I agree,  rushing into having sex is not a good idea.

5. She does little things to show she cares.
Absolutely.  It's nice to do sweet things for each other.  But then again, I am a big romantic.

6. She should be her boyfriend's best wingman — err, wing woman

Don't agree.  If he can't stand up for himself, then I wouldn't be with him in the first place.

7. She never turns on the pressure. This one is important.
Disagree.  Nagging is not good.  But she should be able to speak her mind, otherwise it can lead to frustration, anger and all those negative things. Best to let it out, than to keep it in, I say.

8. She does not take any crap — from anyone.
Oh yeah, absolutely,  Taking crap is not in my vocabulary.

9. A good woman always chooses a good man.
Hopefully.

10. She knows that love is the biggest part of the mating equation.

Agree with that.

disagree, she (Karine) took alot of crap but she knew why, she was patient but not as a slave, she finally took a stand and said: "I love you with all my heart but you need to seek help or else WE won't survive neither will you as a person". I did, and we both got rewarded. It was the best day of my life telling my doctor: "I have a problem".

agree, only when your partner speaks you know what he/she wants/likes. this doesn't only counts for lovers but also in business (TA and myself)

2. She never makes the first move
This one needs to be thrown out of the window.  I DO make the first move, and I don't see anything wrong with it.

Ay, Monica Bellucci!

You are sure there is no silicon in neither tits nor lips involved? Compare and understand my doubts (though I might be wrong, with the years some things grow, others succumb to gravity...):

well...you can't be 100% sure of anything but wonderbras and other stuff make a big difference...look at Angelina in Tomb Raider...massive frontal euh....boobs...afterwards they explained how her boobs were 'helped' to be that big...when Monica plays in movies where her looks are not 'so' important she has small ones...when she goes on the red carpet or such they grow???

alot of (fashion)models do the same...small boobs (because they are thin) except when they need to have big ones...

erhm... thats why I took the liberty of posting actual natural boobs in one of the earlier/later pics each, but of cause there is always PS so close, so we normal mortals cannot be sure of anything...

That idiot standing behind the first shooter is what caused her to get her nose hit. If he's not there, her whole body would recoil not just the rifle. The 2nd clip has a few ladies that have the confidence to cover my six...the blonde in the leather jacket and the brunette with the AR-15 to be sure, the others are just too much fluff.

Shooting guns is not as easy as it looks.  When I've been at the shooting range, I'm always surprised at just how powerful the weapon is and how you have to make sure to hold on to it properly so it doesn't hit you in the face after you shoot.

Indeed, no instruction to be seen in #1: As Facman said, distraction when it counts, no explanation about stance, action/reaction, how-to to join body and weapon mass to balnce equation, looking for the incident, methinks (what else could I really expect from a civilian in BDU?).

# 2 vid....  ???

Re: #1 again: Others fare no better (but this is a hell of a gun, even with re-directed gas flow to break the recoil):

When knowing how to shoot an so called Elephant gun (.700, diameter of bullet 1,7 cm):

The video of those Arabs firing the gun, seems to indicate a reason why the thin red line was able to keep them under subjugation for so long.

Actually, there is a true background to that: A study I read about once showed that the tone and tone height women speak at is processed by men´s brains as background sounds.

the main question is: why would a man go for no.2 instead of no.1? what reason would he have?

you dont...

I did not think I would need to voice the potential reality that the obviously attractive on the surface #1, might very well be a Hag that could make your life miserable, while #2 might share many of your interests etc, etc and lead you to a life of marital bliss. Once again, you can judge a book by its cover, but it doesnt make you an accurate reviewer.

O so true.

Still, physical attraction is what makes us men move at first instant (and social attraction is what makes gals move), so I guess #2 has a harder time when you meet both at a party.

OTOH, if you think twice, my guess (as stated before) is (as intelligent, well seasoned, and maybe even mil) you will pass on both and probably look more for a type like those following (don´t look at the age, I mean to present them not as persons but as stereotypes as Jilly did):

well, that's the point... you can't know in advance who will make you happy, NOTHING can tell you how they are.

and presuming that good-looking girls (or hotties / babes) are all dummies is also untrue, the combination of it all makes it very hard

pretty, smart, active, gentle, loving...all in 1 woman? (or man...)........NOT EASY but CHALLENGING indeed  hihi

I agree with all you say, but I consciously selected a type of women that can accompany you in whatever situation w/o being less able to face being afraid than you...

In this case it is not really  "costume", it is her "working dress": She  (Hilda Tenorio) is one of the better known - and good, from my POV of one who really only can scratch understanding the art in detail - female bull fighters (though she retired last year after just 2 years of actively working because of the macho press comments and because she wasn´t presented with valid bulls: "Women need to be protected, dont give her the beast that might kill her...").

Lets see, seriously, to both women and men here on the forum, how would you feel to confront (voluntarily!) 5-700 kg of beast gone wild with two (very: razor sharp filed) pointy and a few more blunt extentions that fights for survival? Try to get as close as possible, preplanning its trajectory and even fight it at 2 cm to the pointy end on your knees? And *not* flinch!?

Maybe you will see what type of women attract me (could be sailing, piloting, cooking, etc. It´s excellence that attracts me, maybe a mix of all I listed above, and that I have to strive to be worthy as she to be for me:

Hilda Tenorio torea por Faroles y zapopinas en Morelia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFS9oWAeO40#lq-hq)

(The music to this vid is also one of my favorites, "Orobroy" by "Dorantes")

Hilda Tenorio. Torera! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6vEOyhJuuU#lq-hq)

And, maybe the best POV,  her first public bull ever in 2005, the full work of her on a fairly good bull where she anticipates every move, it shows much more of the life philosophy and not just the plain fight:

Dos orejas a un toro complicado (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plQdexhi2mw#lq-lq2-hq)

*That´s* one type of women I like, the fighters, that have learned to cope with anxiety as is expected by us men...

Title: Re: What do men look for in a woman?
Post by: Koen on 3 May 2010, 17:56:08
what attracts me in a woman is ("trying to explain in English"-mode on) is independence...

my woman doesn't have to ask me everything...
a woman is for me more worth than a man...she's way more multi-talented then us men (some women are....not all of them...and I did try a lot of them.....)

when I look at my wife I'm full of adoration...shopping / cleaning / laundry / cooking / driving the car / work  and so much more...she does it all with great results and she does it without continuosly asking my permission...

is the bodywork than not at all important to me? sure it is but the way a woman dresses herself, takes care of her body is way more important...

the misses is 11 years older than me (51 now) but I don't mind, as long as she dresses according to her body, as long as she tries to look good for her husband...

damn...going way too personal on a public forum  ;) ;) ;)

@ Rattler: costume or not...I love women in suits/costumes etc.... hihi
